AIMS & OBJECTIVES

Street2Street seeks to brake down the boundaries, which prevent people from empowering themselves and develop their communities. Street2Street encourages cooperation beyond race, religion and borders – it supports freedom of speech and expression through Music, Arts and Culture. It provides a chance for people to connect and highlights an alternative and more progressive way for the next generation to establish relations.

Yaaseen Solomon:

South African. Always worked for establishing a more equal world i.e. was Nelson Mandela’s bodyguard, opened a DJ school in the city bowl of Cape Town for youngsters of all races, as well as an ‘open mic’ night where the youth could come and practise, as well as express themselves. Is now one of two directors of a holding company, Plug Point Holdings, which through digital billboard advertisement is geared to support socio-economic upliftment.

Maja Hedin:

Danish. Between 2000 & 2006 studying and working abroad with focus on development issues in countries including Asia, Central America, South Africa etc. Completed a BA in International Relations in London 2006, which involved 10 months work placement for a women empowerment project in the Township Nyanga, South Africa. Acted as a consultant for Plug Point Holdings in its early development stages and continues to do so.
Is now applying for a Master degree in International Law and Human Rights.
