CD-cover for "JØDEN"
('The Jew' - danish hip-hop artist)

.......................................................

The model depicts a utopic landscape built around a central character (the ‘Jøden’ persona), thus creating an alternate, dreamlike world, representing the desires of this imaginary person.

The landscape and figures were created using a variety of mixed media, most of them found in and around the area of our old HQ in Njalsgade, Copenhagen (old warehouse buildings that were scheduled for demolition to make way for new office blocks – yeah, so it goes). Included in the model are, for example, parboiled rice, paste, sculptural foam and papier-mâché – all hand colored and painted to suit.

Around the scenery you can, among the others, find the main character from the Swedish children’s book ‘Alfons Åberg’ behind the wheel of a supped up Mini during the daytime shots. In the night shots he has been replaced by his imaginary friend Svipper. It is amazing what a bit of dry ice, a lung full of weed and some translucent paint can do. Note that all the treetops consist of homegrown Danish Marijuana.

Being one of the first collaborative projects undertaken by floorless it is a good example of how personal contacts and networks empower the non-commercial art group and presents us (floorless) with opportunities and a foot in on all kinds of unknown territory. In this case only to have things fucked up by the all too real commercial and dictatorial interests of a record label and the complete lack of vision and understanding on the part of the hired photographer. So sadly this record never made it on to the streets because of a narrow -minded company and we do not have much to show for it other than our own pics thanks to a ‘skilled craftsman’ who had not heard of ‘depth perspective’. Gggrrrrrr.
