Memorial Stone for Hygum Museum of Contemporary Art
.......................................................

This granite gravestone, which was installed at the museum in 2004, depicts in a clear red engraving the exploded view of a Winchester and some falling feathers from a pigeon. The inscription reads: ‘Due to the circumstance of evil, we always answer by imposing ourselves in question.’

Created as a sort of epitaph, being the only piece of permanent art that we have ever made, it is a memorial stone for innocence lost and a political or poetic proposition for every battle ever fought. The engraving itself was carved out at a shop for headstones in Copenhagen and colored in by us. It sits in the wall of the museum with the text engraved in the floor.
